Design Your Own

This class is designed to give rigid heddle weavers the confidence to design and weave their own projects. Join Tammy and spend the morning learning about some of the technical aspects of weaving such as choosing the right reed, yarn, weaving math, a little about colour, patterning, and pickup sticks. Shop for materials at lunch with our expert staff, then in the afternoon, put it all together as you plan and warp your own project!

Students will provide their own equipment and should be comfortable warping. Please bring everything you will need to warp and weave including extra warping sticks, S- hooks, tape measure and T-pins. If extra reeds and equipment are required, they should be ordered at the time of registration.

Lyon Cowl

This advanced beginner class will teach you to work a Moebius construction and some fun hacks like how to estimate yardage needed for a simple pattern without swatching- gasp! And best of all, we give you options. You can choose to make either the fingering, DK, worsted or chunky weight version of this cowl- whichever you like best. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Sweater Design – Seamless Raglan

This class is perfect for your first sweater ever or for those who want to create their own unique sweater design. Tammy will walk you through everything you need to knit a top down raglan pullover or cardigan beginning with choosing the right yarn right through to choosing increases and just the perfect cast off. For the budding designer, think about adding pockets, hoods and other personal touches! This sweater can be as simple or as complex as you want.

Learn How to Weave on a Rigid Heddle Loom

  • $70 plus HST includes all materials and use of a rigid heddle loom for the class.

The rigid heddle loom is very lightweight, portable and easy to use. In this class you will learn to warp the loom, weave a sampler and basic finishing techniques. There will be a maximum of 6 students in the class with 2 instructors. Please bring your lunch.

Introduction to Rug Hooking

You will learn the basics of rug hooking using fleece and yarn from the Cotswold sheep on the farm! Pattern designed by Satupons, hook, hoop and fibre provided.

Fair Isle and Pheasants

This hat was inspired by watching pheasants strutting about the yard and features a ridged double brim and stranded colour-work. Join this two part hat workshop to learn these techniques:

  • Provisional cast on
  • Holding 2 yarn colours
  • Knitting without tangling yarns
  • Stranding pattern and background colours
  • Managing rounds with 3 colours
  • Working yarn ends in as you go.

Part I focusses on the brim of the hat and Part II on the colour-work in the body and crown. (Completing the brim to be ready for the colour-work cannot be accomplished in one session.)

Materials Provided: Original pattern and 5 colours of 100% wool.

Skill Level: Experienced Intermediate – Must be familiar with knitting in the round. Some colour work would be an asset. Demonstrations will be on a circular needle.

Instructor: Cheryl den Hartog continues to explore colour knitwear and will share what she’s learned in the process.

Learn to Spin on a Drop Spindle

Join Jenna and learn to spin your own yarn! Jenna will take you through the steps of spinning your first yarn. You will learn the essential spinning vocabulary, learn to spin using a drop spindle and gain the skills to spin beautiful singles.

A drop spindle and fibre is included in the cost of the class.

Hand Towels

Warp and begin weaving these cute boucle hand towels with Tammy (aka The Rogue Weaver). Learn how to work with cotton boucle, get tips warping, working with 2 shuttles and, if you have one, using a boat shuttle with your rigid heddle loom.

Student will require a minimum 18” loom, a 10 dent reed and 2 stick shuttles and/or 2 slim boat shuttles with bobbins.

Includes a pdf pattern and 2 cones cotton boucle

Nunofelt Scarf/Cowl with Pin

Join Leslie for this beginner nunofelt workshop. The choice is yours…you can create a cowl or a longer scarf. The scarf will be created using undyed (white) habotai silk and merino wool in the colours of your choice. The cowl will be created using hand dyed habotai silk and merino wool in the colour of your choice. You will also create a matching pin. All materials are included. You will need to bring along 2 old towels and a small bucket or large bowl.

Crescent Beach Shawl

Knitting lace is all about making holes in the desired places. Why not start your lace journey with this symmetric triangular shawl? We’ll explore the basics of shawl construction, increasing and decreasing stitches all the while creating decorative holes. It is a great way to use that gorgeous skein you fell in love.

The Crescent Beach Shawl features open work with:
