Rug Hooking with Margaret Forsey Saturday, March 3rd 12 – 4pm $65 + HST registration fee which includes all materials In this beginner’s workshop, learn the folk-art tradition of rug hooking. Artist Margaret Forsey will share her unique, bend-the-rules approach to this craft. By re-using old clothing and burlap, you can create an eco-friendly work of art!

Intro to Needle Felting with Angela Melanson (Ages 8+) Saturday, March 17th 10am – 12pm $35 + HST registration fee which includes all materials In this workshop you will learn the basic principles of needle felting while exploring how this technique is very much like painting, only with a soft and malleable fibre. Enjoy a morning of making your own felted piece, which can be used to embellish something you already have, or simply hung as art on the wall.
Registration for classes can be done by phone with a credit card or in person to hold your spot. Class fees are not refundable. If you are unable to attend due to illness or weather, please call the shop to let us know and the fee can be transfered to another workshop. If a workshop is cancelled due to something on our end, fees will be refunded in full.

We just received in a new order of Lanica! This beautiful 100% organic merino is a soft, lofty single ply that is great for any project you have in mind. With 175 meters it goes far and to make it even better, it's half off (Reg $24)! Come get it while it lasts
	Another great special we have is this beautiful yak (70%) and baby camel (30%) dk weight. 125 meters for 50 grams, this yarn would be great for mittens, hats or a cozy cowl. Half off (Reg $32) while supplies last!
Last up (but never least) is the newest addition to the Fleece Artist Family: Shiba. 70% wool 30% silk, this bulky weight single ply yarn is as gorgeous as they come. One skein is enough to make the Purl Soho's Bandana Cowl. Another great yarn from the team at Fleece Artist.

Ice Wine Fun

Don't forget that this weekend and next is the 5th Annual Ice Wine Festival. There are fun and amazing events going on all over the valley, including L'Acadie Vineyards offering up samples of their red here in the shop. Stop in to say hi, grab a sample and view some amazing photography by local artist Angela Melanson. A festival not to be missed!

Knitting for Beginners with Manda Saturday, January 28th 10am – 12pm $30+HST registration fee which includes all materials Have Manda take you through the basics of learning to knit – the different methods of casting on, reading a pattern, the knit stitch and binding off. Helpful hints and tricks to help you become a confident knitter. Maximum 4 participants.

Fair Isle meets Fundy with Cheryl den Hartog Saturday, February 18th 10am – 3pm $50+HST registration fee which includes yarn kit (5 colours of 100% wool) and an original pattern Learn the basic techniques while creating a Fundy inspired mitten. The "Digby Scallop Sampler" was designed for you to learn how to: Hold 2 yarn colours Knit without tangling yarns Strand and weave – pattern and background colours Recognize the colour basics that make Fair Isle designs effective Participants must be familiar with knitting in the round. There will be homework that must be completed before the workshop, so please pick up the kit at Gaspereau Valley Fibres before the workshop date (Kits can be mailed if needed). Participants are also asked to bring: A set of 3.25mm & 3.5mm double pointed needles Stitch markers Stitch holders A lunch, coffee and tea will be provided Cheryl den Hartog has been fascinated with Fair Isle knitwear for some 20 years and travelled to Shetland to learn from some of the most experienced knitters in the world. Short Spins with Marilyn February 18th, 25th, March 3rd & 10th 10am-12pm $25+HST registration fee per class, or $90+HST for all four Calling all spinners of all skill level! Come enjoy these mini spin sessions with Marilyn. Spend a few hours and gain lots of knowledge about your wheel and how to better use it. February 18th: Choosing and preparing a fleece and how to use a drum carder February 25th: Spinning Ratios: Gaining control of your wheel March 3rd: Plying: The ins and outs of coming together March 10th: Art Yarn: Bumpy, sparkly, twists and twirls!

Icewine Festival with L’Acadie Vineyards

February 4th, 5th, 11th & 12th 12pm – 4pm

Gaspereau Valley Fibres, and our neighbours L'Acadie Vineyards, invite you to take part in this year's Icewine Festival right here at the shop! For two weekends in February, enjoy a sample of L'Acadie Vineyard's Ripasso-style Innovation Series Red wine served up by Ian as he "spins you a yarn". Also be sure to sample local lamb stew, and other tasty morsels prepared for you by Chef Brit, all for no charge. After your tasting, tour the wool shop to see what other yarns you may find. Wine and lamb will be available for purchase as well. Come celebrate winter in the valley with this superb festival.
