Soft Wavy Wrap Kit – Knit using Baby Alpaca and Mo. $80 + HST

This wrap is a great project for an advanced beginner. Knit using 8mm needles, this project can go fairly quick and the finished item is a soft, airy wrap that you won’t want to take off.

Garter Stitch Jacket Kit – Knit using Kiss Curls and Baby Kid. $75 + HST

The perfect project for watching TV or going to a knit night.  Garter stitch throughout, this mohair jacket is warm, light and a great way to show off the Fleece Artist’s beautiful colours.

Trina Jacket Kit – Knit using a Boucle and Aran weight wool. $136 + HST

This kimono style jacket is knit sideways alternating between the boucle and wool. This is one of those pieces that seems to look amazing on everyone. With a beautiful drape and the sophisticated rolled collar, this is a great addition to ones wardrobe.

Thrum Socks – Knit using Kid Aran and Kid Sliver. $30 + HST

These socks are a super quick knit! Great for a last minute present. Soft and squishy on the feet – you’ll never want to take them off.

Thrum Mittens – Knit using Blue Face Aran and Merino Sliver. $30 + HST

Another quick knit, perfect for beating the winter chills. The thrum lining of these mitts lets your hands stay nice and cozy even when the snow is flying.

Slubby Scarf – Knit using Curlylocks and Slubby Blue. $40 + HST

This kit is a great introduction into pairing different yarns together. The thick and thin quality of the slubby compliments the fine elegance of the curlylocks to give this scarf a “one of a kind” look. This piece is appropriate for advanced beginners and promises to be a favorite.

Rumple Angel Scarves – Knit using Rumple and Kit Mohair. – $45 +HST

These kits are a crowd favorite at the shop. Luxurious silk and fine mohair gives these scarves a beautiful weight and drape as well as just enough warmth around your neck. Elegant and classy, these are pieces that can be dressed up or dressed down, whichever your prefer.

Storm Water Scarf – Knit using Sea Silk. $37.50 + HST

This scarf is a summertime must. Sea Silk is a blend of silk and Seacell (seaweed) which means that this piece is a breathable, lightweight garment for those summer nights when you want something light to throw over your shoulders. This pattern is a 16 row repeat that is easily memorized. A fun knit!

Devin’s Toque – Knit using 4-ply Cashmere. $37.50 + HST

This hat pattern is a simple 2 x 2 rib. Cashmere is a lightweight, soft fibre that feel wonderful next to the skin. This is a perfect project for even the most skeptical gift receivers.

Young Shepherd Kit – Knit using Custom Woolen Mill Mule Spinner. $40 + HST

This wool is from Alberta and it great for a nice, sturdy pullover for a child to run around in. Great stitch definition and the cute sheep at the bottom don’t hurt the pattern any.

Flower Pullover Kit – Knit using Custom Woolen Mill Mule Spinner. $40 + HST

Another great pattern choice from Custom Woolen Mills. Soft yellows and green stems can’t help but bring forth visions of spring and summer. Perfect for a child just getting ready to start playing outside again.

Linen Paper Jacket Kit – Knit using a cone of paper linen and two cones of silk mohair. $150 + HST

This Jacket kit is knit using a cone of paper linen (yes, paper yarn), and two cones of silk mohair. The texture is very soft, but crisp, because of the paper. It is a lightweight jacket, perfect for spring.

Kusha Kusha Scarf Kit – Knit using a cone of fine merino and two cones of silk and stainless steel. $32 + HST

The scarf is lightly felted when finished and has a sophisticated ruffle look that can be dressed up or dressed down. The stainless steel gives this garment a large amount of memory, so you are able to have it stay in whatever shape you choose to make it.

 

Island Sweet Fibre Arts hails from the west coast of Newfoundland, and supplies these fun, funky kits to Canada and beyond. Here you can see the scarflette or fingerless mitts kits. These are a great, quick knit project that includes everything you need – yarn, needles and pattern. The wool is Shawn's own handspun creation, so each project is truly one of a kind. Kits are $40 + HST.
