Learn to Spin on a Wheel

You will be able to learn the basics of spinning on a wheel in the first session and take the wheel home to practice for a week.  The second session will be for fine tuning, plying and finishing your first skein of handspun yarn!

Easy Lace Shawl

Knitting lace is all about making holes in the desired places.  Why not start your lace journey with this symmetric triangular shawl?  We’ll explore the basics of shawl construction, increasing and decreasing stitches all the while creating decorative holes.  The openwork shawl design creates chevron bands with left and right slanting decreases, yarn overs, managing a centre stitch and finishes with a Russian cast off.

Please bring: 4mm, 80cm circular needle, row counter, clip on stitch markers.

Workshop cost includes original pattern and yarn (one skein of Fleece Artist Vine or merino slim)

Beginner Needlefelting

Create your own unique tapestry using the traditional technique of needle felting. Bring a photo of your favourite landscape or work from provided samples. Needle felting experience is not necessary but would be considered an asset.

Colour Theory through Fibre Prep

In this class you will learn  – some colour theory basics

  • how to card fibre with hand cards
  • how to blend different colours of fibre together with hand cards
  • strategies for achieving a desired colour effect, to final knitted, woven, felted or hooked project
  • how to create a colour gradient set of carded fibre.

Learn to Weave on a Rigid Heddle Loom

Mini Braids Cowl Knit-Along

The mini braids cowl is unique and fun.  You will use 2 contrasting colours to create the Latvian braids throughout the pattern.  This is a useful stitch to transfer to other patterns eg mitten cuffs.  There is Homework for this class as you will come to class with your cowl cast on and the first few rows knit.

Waffle Weave on a Rigid Heddle Loom
